Title: Sr. Network Engineer

Job Location: San Francisco, CA

Job Description:

Our customer is seeking a Sr. Network Engineer with strong understanding of VPN technology as well as DNS, SMTP, FTP and WWW protocols. Proficiency with BGP, OSPF, HSRP, VLAN’s, STP and other routing protocols


  • Hands-on involvement with installation, management and support for a complex, highly available network infrastructure.
  • Generate and maintain appropriate documentation for internal and external consumption on all aspects of the network infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot performance and stability issues in a timely fashion.
  • Provision network and other resources as needed at local and remote facilities.
  • Communicate status and progress effectively.
  • The position requires installation and maintenance of switches, routers, load balancers, firewalls and other miscellaneous network hardware.
  • Infrequent travel may be required as well as on-call rotation.


  • At least 5-10 years of experience in a hands-on Network  Administration/Engineering role with a focus on technology.

  • Strong understanding of client-server software, networking components, server architectures, performance bottlenecks, network infrastructures.
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP, layer 2 and layer 3 routing, network analysis and troubleshooting techniques
  • Strong understanding of virtualization architectures is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of VPN technology as well as DNS, SMTP, FTP and WWW  protocols. Proficiency with BGP, OSPF, HSRP, VLAN’s, STP and other routing protocols.
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong communication skills are required.
  • Strong experience with Cisco, Juniper, and F5 equipment is a plus.
  • Industry certifications in networking are also a plus: Network+, CCNA, CCNP, CCDA, CCDP, CCIE, JNCIA, JNCIS, JNCIP, JNCIE are a plus.
  • Absorb and understand specific technical requirements
  • Propose creative and efficient solutions and execute on those solutions as effectively as possible
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail are absolute requirements in this role
  • Highly experienced, self-directed and results-oriented, but who is also comfortable with collaboration and cooperation.
  • Able to stay focused and organized in times of intense activity.
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
